Doug Field, Jr. Joins the Core Minerals Team

We are pleased to announce the addition of Doug Field, Jr. to the Core Minerals team.  He will serve as in-house Counsel and be based in the Evansville corporate headquarters.  Doug brings a wealth of legal and commercial experience to Core Minerals.

Doug has extensive experience in commercial and energy law. He worked for Texas Gas Transmission, a subsidiary Boardwalk Pipeline Partners, for 28 years and served in various legal positions including General Counsel. One of his many highlights with Texas Gas was to minimize the company’s take-or-pay exposure by developing a least-cost plan saving the company over $2.5 billion in potential liability.

Doug then co-chaired the team responsible for Texas Gas’ implementation of FERC Order No. 636, which required all interstate pipelines to unbundle and restructure their services to become pure transporters of natural gas. This experience resulted in his developing several rate schedules for the company during the Order 636 restructuring process. He was also involved in the implementation of FERC Order No. 637, which regulates the equality of services, and he oversaw the implementation of standardized business practices pursuant to GISB/NAESB for Texas Gas. In addition to FERC related work, Doug prepared the company’s SEC reporting and general legal and regulatory matters, including Department of Transportation compliance and reporting, and various environmental matters.

During Doug’s tenure at Texas Gas, he faced many challenges such as rebuilding the company’s law department, substantially reducing their outside legal budget, and working with the due diligence and sales teams through various acquisitions and divestitures.

Doug was raised on a dairy farm in Nashville, Tennessee and now resides in Owensboro, Kentucky with his wife, Paula.  His two sons are graduates of the University of Kentucky. Doug is a deacon in his church and serves on the Owensboro RiverPark Center board of directors. He holds a Juris Doctor in Law and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Tennessee. (Go Vols!) Please join us in welcoming Doug to our Core Minerals team.
