Sixth Successful Coal Mine Methane Well for Core Minerals
Core Minerals Operating Co., Inc has successfully drilled and completed their fifth and sixth coal mine methane (CMM) wells on the Camp Breckinridge acreage in Union County, Kentucky. These are wells completed in abandoned underground coal mine works at depths between 300 and 400 feet and have shut in pressures of less than 10 psi. The six wells collectively have the ability to produce in excess of 2,000 Mcf of methane gas per day. Core Minerals is securing a market for this gas production.
Much of the #9 coal and some of the #11 coal is mined out under much of Core’s Camp Breckinridge acreage, creating many additional CMM drilling opportunities. These six wells were drilled, in part, as a pilot program to test this gas resource. Full field development of the Coal Mine Methane Project would require more than 40 wells to be drilled. In addition to the CMM Project, work is underway to drill a Coal Bed Methane pilot project to test over 30,000 acres underlain by unmined coal.
