Michael McLear

Michael McLear is a registered Professional Petroleum Engineer with over 29 years of professional experience as production engineer, foreman, reservoir engineer and manager.

McLear has designed and implemented drilling and work over programs in mature Illinois Basin water floods and supervised field operations for over 700 wells, 6 production facilities and 2 water injection plants with total production of 1,400 BOPD & 40,000 BWPD. Additionally, he proposed a plan of development for the Stoney Point Field in Southern Michigan, using a 3-dimensional, dual-porosity simulation model (ECLIPSE), was elected chairman of the North Stoney Point Unit Engineering sub-committee and testified as an expert in the contested Unitization hearing.

McLear has managed technical experts to design and implement acquisition and development programs in the Illinois Basin and has evaluated, negotiated and purchased properties with over 1,000 BOPD of production twice. Since 2006, he has been Executive Vice President for Core Minerals accumulating over 1100 BOPD of production since its inception. From 1993 through 2003 McLear was the Chief Financial Officer for Team Energy, LLC, of Bridgeport, IL which had also accumulated production in excess of 1,000 BOPD. From 1990 through 1993 he served as Reservoir Engineer and Disposition Coordinator for Marathon Oil Company, in Tyler, TX. From 1988 through 1990 McLear served as Reservoir Engineer for Marathon Oil Company in Jonesville, MI. From 1981 through 1988 McLear served as Production Foreman and Production Engineer for Marathon Oil Company in Bridgeport, IL.

McLear attained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana in 1981. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, Illinois Basin Section, Past Officer of the Michigan Section, and a member of the Illinois Oil & Gas Association. McLear has also served as a Director and Engineering Advisor of the Indiana Oil & Gas Association.
