James P. Rode
James P. Rode, President and Chief Executive Officer of Core Minerals, has been active in the oil and gas industry since 1980. Mr. Rode served as Vice President and General Counsel of the Hercules Petroleum Company, an Illinois Basin exploration and production company until 1984, and then served as General Counsel for EnTrade Corporation, a natural gas marketing company affiliated with Indiana Gas Company and Michigan Consolidated Gas Company.In 1987 Rode was the co-founder, Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Director of Interenergy Corporation, a Denver based natural gas gathering, processing and marketing company. Interenergy was owned by management along with First Reserve Capital Management Corporation, Yorktown Partners and WBI Holdings, (a MDU Resource Group subsidiary, NYSE “MDU”). Interenergy was sold to KN Energy, (now Kinder Morgan, Inc), in 1997. Rode served as a consultant to KN Energy for two years following the transaction.
Mr. Rode also served as a Corporate Development Consultant to MDU Resource Group from 1998 through 2005 and facilitated in excess of $120 Million of oil and gas asset acquisitions for MDU’s subsidiary WBI Holdings.
In 2000 Rode was the founder, Chairman and President of nGenX Corporation, an Application Service Provider serving over 1,000 users in 90 locations in 5 states as well as Canada, Japan, Mexico and Great Britain. He sold nGenX to Cinergy Communications, now Norlight, in January 2004. He served as President of the wholly owned Cinergy subsidiary, nGenX, from the date of the sale until April 2005. nGenX, through Norlight, continues to provide unique services to a wide range of customers today.
In 2006, Rode co-founded Core Minerals Holdings, LLC, and partnered with EnCap Investments, LLP, of Houston, TX, and along with his team, executed a regional roll-up strategy in the Illinois Basin completing ten separate acquisitions and growing the company through acquisitions and drilling from 39 BOPD to in excess of 1,000 BOPD in three years. The company sold substantially all of its oil production assets to CountryMark Energy Resources on May 7, 2010.
Rode has a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from the University of Kentucky, a Juris Doctor Degree from Gonzaga University School of Law and is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Kentucky Oil and Gas Association.
